Beyond the Image of COVID-19 as Nature’s Revenge: Understanding Globalized Capitalism through an Epidemiology of Money

Public discussion of the implications COVID-19 pandemic has reproduced several recurrent and interrelated topics in discourses on sustainability Anthropocene. First, there is an ambiguous concern—sometimes ominous, sometimes hopeful—that will precipitate radical social transformation or even collapse. Second, widespread reflection over risks economic globalization, which increases vulnerability undermines local food security. Third, frequently imagined as nature’s revenge humankind. This metaphor reflects a fundamental conceptual dualism separating nature society that continues to constrain our efforts understand challenges sustainability. To help transcend epistemological ontological dichotomy versus society, article proposes epidemiological approach all-purpose money. Conventional money artifact with far-reaching repercussions for global well biosphere. it source behavioral algorithms severely detrimental consequences both ecological systems might provide middle ground natural science.
